There are a number of theorists that have influenced my research in workplace learning cultures.  This is a growing list of such influencers:

  • Michael Beaudoin – Distance Edu Leadership, Online Learner Competencies
  • Curtis Bonk – Focuses on the intersection of business, education, psychology, and technology. The founder of TEC-VARIETY.
  • Steve Brookfield- Engaging Imagination, Critical Thinking, Adult Edu, born 1949
  • John Dirkx- Adult learning and collaborative learning
  • Daniel Janik – Physician and advocate for TL and researched a neurobiological approach. The neurobiology of learning.
  • John Keller- ARCS Model (attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction)
  • Malcolm Knowles – Adopted the word “andragogy”, helped develop Humanist Learning Theory, use of learning constructs.
  • David Kolb – Experiential Learning Theory and Model, born 1939
  • Jack Mezirow – Transformative Learning Theory
  • Edward Taylor – Transformative Learning and professor of adult education at PSU
